U of A Tuition and Fees to Increase for 2016-17 School Year

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas System Board of Trustees approved an increase in tuition, fees and other charges on the Fayetteville campus that will go into effect for the fall 2016 semester.

These are among the smallest percentage increases at the U of A in the past 20 years. The only years with equal or lower increases were 2010 and 2014.

“The decision to raise tuition and fees is never easy and is never taken lightly,” said Chancellor Joe Steinmetz. “Our goal is to keep costs as low as possible for our students and their families, while continuing to improve the quality and the value of a University of Arkansas education.”

Overall, tuition and mandatory fees for undergraduates from Arkansas will increase 3.5 percent. Out-of-state undergraduates will see a 6.15 percent increase.

Tuition and fees for graduate students from Arkansas will increase 3.13  percent; out-of-state graduate student tuition will go up by 6.11 percent.

A variety of non-mandatory fees, associated with specific colleges or programs, have also increased, but the large majority of them will stay the same in the 2016-17 academic year.
