Stoyanoff Selected as New Chief Information Officer

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Dawn Stoyanoff has been named the new associate vice chancellor of Information Technology Services and chief information officer at the University of Arkansas, effective Feb. 25. 

"I'm honored to have been selected to guide the University of Arkansas during this important time of transformation on campus," said Stoyanoff. "It's an exciting and rapidly changing period for higher education and how technology can be used to increase efficiency. I look forward to arriving and building on the success of the Achieve IT initiative."

Stoyanoff will manage the Information Technology Services department and provide leadership to all facets of university technology. She will report dually to the provost and the vice chancellor for finance and administration. 

"We were fortunate to have more than 100 exceptionally strong applications for the CIO position. Dawn stood out for her years of experience with ERP projects and change management," said Chris McCoy, vice chancellor for finance and administration. "I am confident she will help us navigate the complexities and challenges we face over the next several years."

"The role that information technology plays in our primary mission of teaching, research and outreach is increasing exponentially," said Jim Coleman, provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs. "Dawn has the leadership skills and experience to excel in working with our students, deans, faculty and staff to align our information technology priorities with our academic mission."

Stoyanoff is currently the higher education and academic practice director for Information Services Group in Austin, Texas. Prior to this position, she was an executive director with the University of Texas System Administration for 10 years. 

A primary focus of Stoyanoff's career has included strategic planning and higher education leadership specifically for information technology and organizational assessment. She has a Ph.D. in organization management from Capella University, a Master of Arts from Northeastern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Monmouth College.

McCoy added, "I would like to personally thank Dean John English and the search committee for their hard work over the past several months."

English, dean of the College of Engineering, lead the 12-member search committee, whose other members included:

• Clayton Hamilton, senior associate athletic director
• Jack Cothren, director of the Center for Advanced Spatial Technology.
