Panhellenic Bid Day will take place at 10 a.m., Aug. 18, in the Chi Omega Greek Theatre and will be broadcast live by UATV on Facebook and Twitter.

"Bid Day is a very exciting time for the University of Arkansas Greek Community as sorority members gather to extend bids to the new members to join their chapters," said Parice S. Bowser, director of Greek Life. "The live broadcast on Facebook and Twitter help bring the excitement to family and friends who cannot attend."

The ceremony will be broadcast live by UATV at Facebook.com/uastudenttelevision/, on Twitter @uatvnews, and simulcast into the Hillside Auditorium near the Greek Theatre.

Maple Street from Lindell Avenue to Whitham Avenue will have traffic control in place. Please consider alternate routes during 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. on Aug. 18.

In case of rain, bids will be distributed to potential new members in the Arkansas Union, who will be released to go to sorority houses immediately following. Guests in attendance should wait at the Union Mall for their student to receive further information regarding Bid Day activities.

"Bid Day is often referred to as the 'Best Day of the Year'. I think it's the best day because it is when these women find their home away from home at the University of Arkansas," said Lauren Kantor, vice president for recruitement. "It represents women beginning a new chapter in their life. A chapter of being constantly encouraged and loved unconditionally."

"These women are joining a chapter full of encouragement and support, perfect for the transition from home to college life," said Kayla Kochan, Panhelleinc president. "The day is full of anticipation and fun as these young women find their home for the next 4 years. It's the grand finale to a week that they will never forget!"

Grace Satterthwaite, vice president of judicial, agrees. "Bid Day is extremely rewarding for the chapters as well as Greek Life and the PNM's. The hard work that has been put in for months pays off when these women open their bid cards and get to run home to their sorority for the first time."
