U of A Professor to Serve as Art Critic at Art Exhibition in Rome

Consuelo Lollobrigida, a faculty member at the University of Arkansas Rome Center and adjunct professor for the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, will serve as an art critic for the "Scultura OpeRosa Materia" art exhibition.

The exhibition is part of the International Roses' Prize of Rome. The prize, which was inaugurated in 1933, is one of the most prestigious prizes of its scope in the world and is commissioned by the City Hall of Rome.

"I want to congratulate Dr. Consuelo Lollobrigida for her contribution to the Roses' Prize as an art critic," said Davide Vitali, director of the Rome Center. "This is another significant step toward the creation of a strong art component within the University of Arkansas Rome Center. Art matters, and Rome, its museums, galleries and events, is the living proof of its significance. I am proud of the work of Dr. Lollobrigida and the Rome Center faculty; they are the reason for our success."

The exhibition will feature sculptures and paintings created by professionals and art students from across the globe. Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma professor and sculptor Oriana Imperi curated the setting and selection of artists, and Lollobrigida will write the critique of the exhibition.

"I am very honored to participate in this important cultural event," Lollobrigida said. "I think my contribution to the exhibition as an art critic will help foster greater collaboration among the Rome Center, the City Hall of Rome and Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma and that it will lead to increased opportunities for students from the University of Arkansas School of Art. I am also excited to participate in this exhibition because I think the experience will help be grow as a teacher."

The exhibition began May 20 and will conclude May 24 at the Aranciera di San Sisto Vecchio in Rome.
