Fulbright College Celebrates 2018 Scholars Who Graduated With a 4.0 GPA

More than 1,030 students applied to graduate this spring from the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, but only 45 of these new alumni did so after maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA and completing more than half of their coursework with the U of A.

This group was honored in early May, at the college's annual spring Scholars Breakfast.

"We are so proud of and excited for these distinguished scholars as they graduate and take their next steps - either academically or into their chosen career field," said Todd Shields, dean of Fulbright College. "These 2018 scholars are among the best and brightest of our college, and we know they will go on to do extraordinary things."

New graduates who maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA include:

• Biology majors: Jake Allison*, Mitchell Benton*, Garrett Bethel*, Austin Boice, Madison Caldwell*, Joseph Chacko*, Kylie Cleavenger*, Abigail Herzog, Emily Ray*, Abigale Tatum, Tarahn Turner*, Jackson Weaver, Pooja Lukhi* (with dual major in Chemistry)
• Chemistry majors: Monica Armstrong*, Jordan Burkdoll*, Cody Canote*, Jeffrey Frerking*, Alexander Kwok*, Katherine Naeger*, Gray Orman*, Collie Shaw*, Harper Grimsley* (with dual major in Mathematics),
• Criminal Justice major: Sydney Tobin* (with dual major in Spanish)
• English majors: Addison Cornwell*, Brianna Grimmett*, Katherine Morton*, Suzanna Gibbs* (with dual major in French)
• French major: Jennifer Isaacs* (with dual major in English)
• History major: Anne Crafton* (with dual major in English)

• Music majors: Dylan Adkins, Cari Moll, Alaina Tuberville
• Psychology majors: Catherine Chandler, Elise Everly*, Paulie Phillips*, Rebecca Hardcastle* (with dual major in Anthropology)
• Sociology major: Tatianna Balis (with an additional degree in Kinesiology)
• Spanish majors: Jacob Fluech* (with dual major in Middle East Studies), Casey Gibson (with an additional degree in Biological Engineering), Catherine Hagemeier (with an additional degree in Economics)

Additionally, many of the students also received fellowships from the Honors College, including:

As well as fellowships from the Fulbright College Honors Program, including:
