New Login System Starting Today

Starting today, UARK Gmail, Blackboard and other services will use a new, secure login system called Azure. Popular services such as Office 365, Box and Kaltura are already using Azure to process logins.

The following services will begin using Azure today:

  • UARK Gmail
  • Lynda.com Online Learning
  • Blackboard Learn
  • Adobe Creative Cloud

This change is planned as the first phase to migrate authentication services from the legacy Shibboleth environment to the more secure and reliable Microsoft Azure AD system. Because the migration only impacts logins, users logged in during the migration will not be interrupted.

Aside from the visual difference in the login screens, users will be required to log in using their full UARK email address instead of just the username. Students will be required to log in with UARK username@uark.edu. Logging in with UARK username@email.uark.edu will result in a login error.

UAConnect will also move to Azure on Thursday, March 22, as part of their scheduled updates (read more).
