United We Win Enters Final Weeks of Campaign with Social Media Drive
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – United We Win – the U of A United Way campaign – is launching $1United, a social media drive designed to include faculty, staff and students though an easy to use mobile app.
It’s a 24/24 event – running 24 hours, starting Oct. 24. The drive will start at 7 a.m. Tuesday and end at 7 a.m. Wednesday. Anyone on campus can use the Venmo app on their mobile device to contribute $1 – or more – to United We Win.
“This year, the U of A United Way has really reached out to students on campus, making it easy for us to participate,” said Andrew Counce, president of the ASG. “It’s an opportunity for us to give back to our Northwest Arkansas community – and the children who need our help.”
Venmo is a free download to any mobile device. Use the @UnitedWayNWA tag when making a donation through Venmo.
Anyone can also use their mobile device to access https://unitedway.uark.edu and make an online donation.
The United Way and the United Way of Northwest Arkansas are among the most efficient philanthropic organizations in the country: 96 percent of all local donations go the programs for children in Northwest Arkansas.
So far, the campaign is just under 50 percent of its goal to raise $160,000 for the United Way of Northwest Arkansas. That money will go to support 38 programs developed by 31 local organizations, all designed to help the estimated 27,000 children living in poverty in our region.
Faculty and staff can contribute by turning in their personal donor cards or by going to the secure website at https://unitedway.uark.edu.
