Spring Bike Drive Refurbishes Old Bikes for New Students

Don't want to haul your bike home for the summer? The Office for Sustainability is partnering with University Housing and Pedal it Forward to host a Bike Donation Drive during move-out week. All donated bikes will be given to Pedal It Forward, a local nonprofit that will refurbish your bike and return it to the U of A campus to be gifted to a student in need.

Through collaborations between campus departments and Pedal It Forward, this amazing partnership has already led to hundreds of bicycles being granted to U of A students who need a bicycle for transportation. In 2023 alone, Pedal It Forward refurbished over 150 bikes for U of A students.

Interested in donating? Follow these steps:

If you live in an on-campus residence hall:

  1. Pick up a Bike Drive hang tag from the front desk of your residence hall.
  2. Fill out the hang tag.
  3. Attach the completed hang tag to your bike seat post using the elastic.
  4. Drop off at the Drop Zone nearest you. You'll know it's a Drop Zone if you see a Bike Drive Yard Sign
  5. Follow all directions located on the Bike Drive Yard Sign.

If you do not live in an on-campus residence hall:

  1. Bring your bike to the Sustainability House, located at 238 N. Harmon Ave., during office hours.
  2. An OFS team member will assist you with your donation.

Bikes can be donated any time between May 1 and 10. If donating after May 6, we ask that you please bring your bike directly to the Sustainability House.
