U of A Plans Slate of Events Celebrating Black History Month

Departments across the University of Arkansas have planned a slate of events to celebrate Black History Month in February, with events including a virtual lunch and learn on Silas Hunt, a soulful cooking show and regular diversity, equity and inclusion hours.

Celebrations for the month, established in 1926 in recognition of the contributions and role African Americans played in United States history, also include a film review and discussion, virtual story time and a panel discussion around Historically Black Colleges and Universities. This year's events also include a monthlong scavenger hunt to support Black-owned businesses in the region.

Offices across campus are sponsoring BHM events, including the Multicultural Center, the Office for Diversity and Inclusion, the Black Alumni Society and numerous academic colleges.

The full calendar of events is available on the Diversity and Inclusion website.
