Engine Week Returns February 19-23

Engine Week returns Feb. 19-23 with more than a dozen events to raise awareness and excitement about what's happening in the College of Engineering.

Engineers and non-engineers alike are invited to participate in events ranging from a pancake breakfast to the Dean's annual State of the College address.

The tradition of Engine Week began at the University of Arkansas in 1909.

Beth Laster, who leads the Engineering Student Council, which organizes the event, said Engine Week is a chance to have fun while building awareness about the role engineering plays in society.

"The purpose of Engine Week is to celebrate how engineers make a difference in the world and increase public dialogue about the need of engineers," Laster said. "We want to celebrate engineering of all disciplines and hope to broadcast Engine Week throughout the College of Engineering and the entire University."
