Campus Forum on "Campus Concealed Carry" Available Online

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The first campus forum on Arkansas’ new “campus concealed carry” law on Sept. 6 drew an attentive audience and a range of opinions and questions.

A video of the forum is now available on the U of A’s You Tube channel.

“The forum provided an excellent opportunity for the university to work together on developing solutions to safety concerns related to the new concealed carry laws being fully implemented, in the future” said Chancellor Joe Steinmetz, who spoke prior to the forum. “I thought the questions were excellent. We don’t have all the answers yet but events like this allow us to focus on some of the details of the new laws and how they apply specifically to higher education. I’d like to thank all the faculty, staff and students who participated. We will continue to do all we can to provide a safe and secure learning environment for our campus community.”

The forum was a part of a larger effort to keep the campus community informed about the new law, when it will be fully implemented and the specifics about how it will be implemented.

Anyone wanting more information about the “campus concealed carry” law can find it on the U of A Safety website. The site includes basic information about the new law as well as answers to frequently asked questions.

Members of the campus community who have questions that are not answered on the site are encouraged to send those questions to feedback@uark.edu
