FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Honors Student Board in the U of A's Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences presented awards to first-, second- and third-place winners, and acknowledged people's choice winners in the 2017 Bumpers College Research Poster Contest in April.

Winners were chosen from graduate and honors undergraduate divisions, and two crowd favorites were awarded for each category.

"The poster competition provides opportunities for the Honors Student Board to practice their leadership, current Bumpers College students to highlight their research and honors students the opportunity to gain ideas about possible research or creative projects," said Assistant Dean for Student Programs Leslie Edgar, who is also head of the college's honors program.

Twenty-six applicants were selected to display their research in the AFLS Building atrium in April. Students and faculty had the opportunity to review the posters and vote for one in each division, and scores were assigned by members of the Bumpers Honors Student Board.

Prior to the awards ceremony, a social was held where researchers discussed their projects with faculty, peers and student board members.

First-place winners received a $100 Visa gift card, second place a $50 gift card and third place a $25 gift card. Crowd favorites were also presented with $50 gift cards.
