Attention staff! Have you considered or are you currently taking classes here at the University of Arkansas? If so, you may be eligible for scholarship support through the University of Arkansas Staff Senate Scholarship fund. For the second year in a row the Staff Senate is excited to announce that we have received matching funds from Chancellor Joseph E. Steinmetz in support of Staff Scholarships, which once again doubles our ability to award scholarships to more staff!

Applications are available now by downloading a PDF of the Staff Senate Scholarship form. The deadline for submission is 5 p.m. Friday, June 1. Late or incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Awards: The Staff Senate Scholarship, the Rick A. Haley Memorial Scholarship, the Susan Imes Yell Scholarship, and the Barbara G. Taylor Staff Senate Scholarship will each be available up to the amount of $500. The number of scholarships to be awarded will be determined by the number of eligible applicants. Disbursement will be up to $250 per semester, spring and fall semesters only.

Purpose: This award was developed to promote and encourage staff development through higher education.

Eligibility: Each applicant must be a 100 percent appointed, full-time University of Arkansas, Fayetteville staff employee. Applicants must also be employed by the University of Arkansas for at least one year prior to the scholarship deadline.

Criteria: The following criteria will be utilized to determine the award. Each applicant must:

  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher to receive the award;
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 in the fall semester in order to continue the scholarship for the spring semester;
  • Be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours of coursework per semester;
  • Express a desire to contribute to the University through further educational endeavors;
  • Demonstrate a need for financial assistance in the pursuit of further education;
  • Provide  two references by submitting two Recommendation Forms; and
  • Finalists may be interviewed by the members of the Scholarship Committee.

New Faculty Teaching Portfolio Authors Recognized

The faculty members successfully completed the Teaching Portfolio and will be recognized at the Fall Teaching Awards ceremony hosted by the Cordes Teaching and Faculty Support Center and the Teaching Academy.
