The University Symphony Orchestra, led by Robert Mueller, and the University of Arkansas Collegiate Chorale, led by Stephen Caldwell, will present "Transformations" on May 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Faulkner Performing Arts Center.

The orchestra and choir will combine forces to produce Fauré's beloved Requiem. In describing this work, Fauré said "But it is thus that I see death: as a happy deliverance, an aspiration towards happiness above, rather than as a painful experience."

The concert will also feature guest violinist Tara Mueller in a world premiere performance of Satori (Awakening): Concerto for Violin and Orchestra by Robert Mueller. Tara is a member of the New World Symphony and the Sarasota Orchestra in Florida. A native of Fayetteville, she holds degrees in violin performance from the New England Conservatory, and she has won numerous awards and performed concerti with several orchestras.

The University Symphony Orchestra will round out the program with one of Richard Wagner's favorite works, the Ride of the Valkyries. In Norse mythology, the Valkyries were female helping spirits who transported fallen warriors to their glorious resting place in Valhalla.

Tickets for the event can be purchased in the link provided. $10 general admission; $5 students/faculty/seniors
