Conceal-Carry Legislation Signed

On Wednesday a bill was signed into law expanding concealed-carry legislation to allow weapons on all public college and university campuses in Arkansas when the law takes effect in September.

Under this new law, concealed-carry permit holders who complete 8 hours of additional training — set forth by the Arkansas State Police — to earn an enhanced permit will be allowed to carry weapons on campus.

The University of Arkansas is working collaboratively with the UA System as it establishes policies, guidelines and practices that align with the law as it affects the campus.

Work has also begun on an information portal to provide more details about the law, answer questions from the U of A campus community and share policies and guidelines as they are developed through the UA System.
