CAPS to Host Screening of 'Inside Out'
The Pat Walker Health Center's Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) will host a special screening of Disney Pixar's Inside Out from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, in the Arkansas Union Theater.
The popular animated film looks into the mind of an 11-year-old girl named Riley who learns to wrangle five personifications of her emotions — Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger — while making the life-changing move from Minnesota to San Francisco.
On the surface, Inside Out is a fun, family-friendly Pixar classic, but the themes and lessons intertwined in the narrative provide us with a better understanding of emotional health, and more specifically the role each emotion plays in our everyday lives.
A talkback session will immediately follow the film screening. CAPS will have three licensed mental health professionals available to discuss the movie as well as answer student questions about mental health and more. The panel hopes to explore the major themes of Inside Out and that all emotions are helpful, and useful.
