Three members of the Department of Accounting at the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas have been recognized with a national teaching award by the Federation of Schools of Accountancy and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Charles Leflar, a clinical professor in the department who holds the BKD Lectureship in Accounting, and lecturers Katie Terrell and JaLynn Thomas have been selected to receive the Mark Chain/FSA 2016 Innovation Graduate Teaching Award.

"This is another great example of the innovative efforts of our exceptional accounting faculty," said Gary F. Peters, accounting department chair who holds the G. William Glezen Endowed Chair in Accounting.

The award recognizes exceptional graduate accounting course practices. Award recipients are selected from the pool of accepted submissions to the American Accounting Association's Effective Learning Strategies Forum.

The three will present their work at the American Accounting Association Conference on Teaching and Learning in Accounting in August 2017, receive a plaque and an American Institute of Certified Public Accountants funded award totaling $2,500.
