Net Impact Sustainability RSO to Hold First Fall Meeting

Net Impact will host its first meeting of the year at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, in Willard J. Walker Hall 403. The organization will hold a panel discussion with young professionals, all University of Arkansas alumni, who have incorporated sustainability and social responsibility into their careers.

Free food will be provided and there will also be a Fayettechill Giveaway to those in attendance. The meeting is open to all members of the campus community. (A professional Net Impact Chapter has also recently been launched, and the chair will be on the panel. You may join at Net Impact Northwest Arkansas- Professional.)

Net Impact is a global organization promoting sustainability practices and social change on campuses and in the workplace. With more than 100,000 members, Net Impact promotes professional development and networking while emphasizing sustainable habits.

"Net Impact is more than a club," said Meredith Adkins, corporate outreach director for the George W. Edwards Jr. Career Development Center. "It is a global community of emerging leaders who truly care about making a positive impact through their careers."

Members can attend the national Net Impact conference, network with businesses, participate with service projects, and campus events, all aimed towards promoting sustainable ideas in their future careers.

"I joined Net Impact because it is an established organization across the nation and is a great way for students and professionals to utilize their skills in a way that positively impacts themselves, their communities, and society. The club has tremendous potential on the U of A campus and should be able to thrive in Northwest Arkansas," said Jack Scaccia, president of Net Impact.

Students and staff at the University of Arkansas started the U of A chapter of Net Impact, a national organization for students and professionals promoting social and environmental change, in the spring of 2016.
