Arkansas News Open to Student Groups, Academic Departments

All registered student organizations, academic departments, auxiliaries and centers for research and outreach at the U of A may submit articles for publication on the news.uark.edu website and for distribution through the daily Arkansas News email.

"We want all campus organizations to feel welcome to promote their events, honors and news through Arkansas News," said Charlie Alison, executive editor for the Office of University Relations. "Generally, articles that promote the university and publicize aspects of its mission are accepted for publication."

The news.uark.edu website received more than 2 million page views during the past academic year. The Arkansas News email includes both articles submitted to the university news site and events submitted to the university calendar.

News Submission Requirements

Student organizations that receive funding from the Associated Student Government or are planning a fundraiser are asked to submit their articles to the Office of Student Activities at rso@uark.edu, which will then submit the article to the news.uark.edu website. The use of Arkansas News is one of the benefits of being an RSO.

Articles or announcements that aren't related to ASG funding or RSO fundraising may be submitted online at news.uark.edu/articles/submit. The online form includes space for a headline and story, contact information that is published with the article, and JPG or PNG images that must be smaller than 3 megabytes in size. The form also includes options to add a related YouTube video or related links. Submitted articles will appear on the web and publish in the Arkansas News email on the date chosen by the submitter.

For researchers who need participants for studies, contact editor@uark.edu for information on how to be added to the Ongoing Studies section of the news email.

Please submit the articles by noon the day before desired publication date. Articles will get a light edit for university editorial style.

Calendar Submissions

Events may be added to the university calendar at calendars.uark.edu. Events on the calendar will appear in the "Today's Events" section of the Arkansas News email on the day of the event.

Submissions to either the news site or the calendar do go through a short approval process. Articles are given a light edit for university style, grammar, punctuation and spelling.

More than 35,000 members of the campus community are automatically subscribed to Arkansas News. More than 1,000 people beyond campus, including the major state media, also subscribe to Arkansas News. If someone with a non-uark address wants to subscribe, they can go to news.uark.edu and add their address through a submission form or they can send their email address to editor@uark.edu.
