Career Fest 2016

On Wednesday, Sept. 7, the University Career Development Center will host the kickoff to Career Fest, a semester of professional development events for all UA students. These events are designed to prepare and equip UA students with the skills and knowledge necessary for career success. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn from knowledgeable employers and staff. The semester will include Walmart Career Day, Walmart Networking Event, and E2 Series (Engineers Employed).

Career Fest (co-sponsored by Walmart)

On Wednesday, Sep. 7, from noon to 4 p.m., representatives from Walmart and its vendors (Frito Lay, Microsoft, Pepsico, KPMG, and Unilever) will be present to network with students and speak on various professional development topics. From noon to 2 p.m., Walmart representatives will conduct a lunch and learn event where students will learn about personal branding and how to interview effectively. Free Lunch will be provided at this event. From 2-4 p.m., Walmart representatives and vendors will host breakout sessions on the following topics, Technology & Engineering, Supply Chain & Retail, Finance & Accounting, and Corporate Sustainable Responsibility. These sessions will be hosted in 30-minute intervals so that students may attend all for sessions within a two hour period if they desire.

Career Fest is an excellent opportunity for students to talk with professionals working in some of the top Fortune 500 companies. Walmart Manager of Talent Outreach and Diversity Initiatives, Bliss Burton stated, "At Walmart, we are looking for the brightest and the best talent to join our teams. We look for individuals who take pride in striving for excellence, while making an impact with our customer base around the world. We partner with the University of Arkansas year after year to tap in to such talent, and we invite you to learn more about our global team of associates and vendors - both essential in making it all happen."

Registration and business casual attire is required to attend.
