Kevin Hall, Jill Rucker and Gina Shelton were named Outstanding Faculty Members by ASG.

Kevin D. Hall of the College of Engineering, Jill Rucker of Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences, and Gina Shelton of the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences were named "Most Outstanding Faculty Members" at Associated Student Government's annual Faculty Appreciation Banquet in April.

Hall is a professor and holds the Twenty-First Century Endowed Leadership Chair in Civil Engineering in the College of Engineering. Hall was praised for his student-focused attitude and his ability to inspire his students and remind them of their end goal of careers in this field. The officers of the American Society of Civil Engineers nominated him for recognition.

Rucker is assistant professor in the Agricultural Education, Communications and Technology Department of Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Science. She was described as selfless, student-focused, and inspirational. Students highlighted that her charisma and enthusiasm make her stand out in the classroom. Students Emily Hawkins, Hanan Southard, BoDavid Willford, Brittney Coffee, Maggie Jo Hansen, Wells Clark, Kylee Sigmon and Patterson Hillarie nominated her for recognition.

Shelton is an instructor in the Walter J. Lemke Department of Journalism in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences. She was described as insightful, innovated and thoughtful. She was also highlighted for going above and beyond for her students on a regular basis. Faith Tyrell nominated her.

Students nominated faculty members through an application process and a selection panel of undergraduate and graduate students selected ten finalists. In addition to Hall, Rucker, and Shelton, finalists were:

  • Timothy Yeager, associate professor of finance in the Sam M. Walton College of Business

  • Patrick Wolf, Endowed Chair in School Choice in the Department of Education Reform in the College of Education and Health Professions

  • Carleton Holt, associate professor of educational leadership in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education and Health Professions

  • Richard Coffman, associate professor of civil engineering in the College of Engineering

  • Geffrry Davis, assistant professor of English in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences

  • Lindsey Aloia, assistant professor of communications in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences

  • Gerald Jordan, associate professor of journalism in the J. William College of Arts and Sciences

ASG honored these faculty members at the 16th annual Faculty Appreciation Banquet at the Inn at Carnall Hall on April 15.
