Director Quincy Spencer and Assistant Director Alison Leach accept the Powerful Partnership Award and the Excellence in Publication-Website Award at the AHEPPP Annual Conference.

New Student & Family Programs in the Division of Student Affairs was honored by the Association for Higher Education Parent/Family Programs Professionals with two awards at the association's recent annual conference in Savannah, Georgia. The department received the Excellence in Publication-Website Award and the Powerful Partnership Award.

The University of Arkansas Parent & Family Programs website, parents.uark.edu, received the Excellence in Publication-Website Award.  This honor is awarded to an institution with a website designed specifically for parents and contains vital information about the institution.  The website features an upcoming events section to encourage involvement, archived editions of the Razorback Parent e-Newsletter to enhance communication to families, and a variety of other resources to assist in the transition to life at the University of Arkansas for both students and families.

The Powerful Partnership Award honored the relationship between New Student & Family Programs, Admissions and the Arkansas Alumni Association for their work on Arkansas & YOU, a collaborative welcome event for incoming students and their parents in their hometowns. In its second year, Arkansas & YOU engaged over 1,000 parents and students in six cities.

"We are truly honored to receive these awards. We value parents and family members and work hard to make sure they have the resources needed to successfully support their students," said Alison Leach, assistant director of Parent & Family Programs.

New Student & Family Programs hosts various events and programs throughout the year, including Family Weekend, Spring Family Reunion, and Regional Parents Clubs to engage, inform, and connect current parents to university life.
