FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. —The U of A Veterans Resource and Information Center will host the 3rd annual Veterans Day Breakfast from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11 in the Arkansas Union room 603. This is an opportunity for the Division of Student Affairs to thank all students, faculty and staff who are military veterans or are currently serving. It will also be a chance for veterans and those now serving to learn about the services the Veterans Center offers.

Razorback Athletics will join in the celebration – partnering in the spirit of the Walmart “Green Light a Vet” campaign. The retail giant is encouraging the public to buy green light bulbs and shine them at home to salute veterans; at 5:30 p.m., Nov. 11, the big screen at Reynolds Razorback Stadium will become the biggest green light in Northwest Arkansas, turning the stadium green – a sight that can be seen for miles around Fayetteville. Everyone is invited to get a picture at the stadium and thank a Veteran using #GreenLightAVet.

Veterans Day activities will conclude with the 4th Annual RazorVets Banquet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Fayetteville Town Center, 15 W. Mountain Street.

The banquet recognizes student and local veterans and partners of the University of Arkansas Veterans Resource and Information Center, creating awareness of the scholarship and mentoring needs of student veterans.

Lieutenant Governor Tim Griffin will be guest speaker at the event. Griffin is serving in his 19th year with the U.S. Army Reserve, was deployed to Iraq with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

To register for this event, please email Carolyn Collins at cdc008@uark.edu or call (479) 575-5007.  The banquet is free, but by invitation only. Business or military attire is requested.
