The University of Arkansas Department of Art is pleased to present an evening with Vibeke Olson. The lecture will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at Hillside Auditorium, Room 206.

Olson is an associate professor of art history and interim director of the Women's Studies and Resource Center at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She has published on medieval architectural topics that focus on labor and design practices as well as audience reception of portal sculpture along the pilgrimage roads. Recently, she has turned her attention to medieval devotional practices and visionary experiences to explore how these affect viewer response to devotional images and relics. She is currently engaged in research on sensory experiences; particularly as they relate to the devotion to, and the depiction and production of bodily fluids, such as blood, sweat, tears, and milk

All visiting artist lectures are free and open to the public. The Department of Art, as well as the Joy Pratt Markham Endowment Fund, provide support for the Joy Pratt Markham Visiting Artist/Scholar Series.
