U of A Offers ACT Prep Classes in Fayetteville and Rogers

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas College Access Initiative will offer its Fall Academy ACT prep classes for all high school students in Northwest Arkansas this fall.

The Fall Academy includes multiple classes leading up to the October and December ACT tests and will cover all ACT subject areas, including English, math, reading and science. Any current high school sophomores, juniors or seniors interested in improving ACT performance are encouraged to apply. The cost is $180, and class space is limited. A limited number of partial fee-waivers will be available to students who qualify for free or reduced lunch; qualifying students will only pay $40 for the class.

“College Access Initiative is an affordable ACT prep program,” said Bryan Hembree, who directs the program’s ACT outreach in Northwest Arkansas. “The class will focus on motivating strategies and a fresh approach to the ACT. Sophomores, juniors and seniors of all levels will benefit from this unique approach to ACT test prep.”

The classes will begin with a broad conversation about the college planning process and the ACT test. Students will gain a roadmap for the class, which includes strategies to help students:

  • Conquer the balance between speed and accuracy
  • Remove mental blocks that inhibit performance
  • Gain familiarity and confidence with the test format
  • Understand the role the test plays in the college planning process
  • Move toward their true potential on the test
