Would you know what to do in a cardiac, breathing, or first aid emergency? The right answer could help you save a life. With an emphasis on hands-on learning, American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, and AED courses are designed to help people lead safer and healthier lives, as well as enhance preparedness in homes, schools, and workplaces.

The department of University Recreation is offering American Red Cross First Aid, Adult CPR and AED certification courses during the fall 2015 semester. Class dates and times are available at urecmembers.uark.edu. In addition to choking rescue and CPR techniques, students will learn how to treat cuts, bruises, bone and muscle injuries, shock, bleeding and other first aid emergencies. Students will also learn how to operate an automated external defibrillator (AED). This course meets OSHA's Best Practices for Workplace First Aid Training Programs. Upon successful completion, students receive American Red Cross certificates for Adult CPR, Adult First Aid, and AED (valid for two years). The cost for the course is $65 for U of A students and $85 for all other participants.

University Recreation can also bring this course to your office or classroom for groups of 10 or more. All materials are provided, and class dates class dates can be set up to fit your schedule.

These classes are open to members of the public. Participants do not need to be affiliated with the University of Arkansas to register and attend.
