Summer Chamber Music Festival to Feature Pianist Miroslava Panayotova

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The seventh annual KUAF/Fulbright Summer Chamber Music Festival continues at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 28, in the Fine Arts Center's Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.

The performance will feature faculty members Ronda Mains (flute), Er-Gene Kahng (violin), Paulo Eskitch (viola), Stephen Gates (cello) and Miroslava Panayotova (piano).

This is Panayotova's first year to participate in the festival, which has been organized by Kahng and Gates, in collaboration with KUAF 91.3 FM and the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, since 2009.

Panayotova has entertained audiences in Canada, Bulgaria, Russia, Slovakia, Romania and Mexico. The Bulgarian pianist has also traveled extensively throughout the United States, and her repertoire encompasses a variety of styles. She is a visiting assistant professor of piano at the University of South Florida where she teaches studio piano, piano pedagogy and class piano and coaches chamber music.

This is the second of the 2015 festival's three performances. In addition to the May 28 event, there will be a final performance at 7 p.m. Friday, June 5, in the Great Hall at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville.

Selections for Thursday's concert include:

  • Flute Quartet in D, K. 285 by Mozart
  • Piano Trio, K. 496 by Mozart
  • Piano Quartet in G minor, op. 25 by Brahms

Performances are free and open to the public thanks to support from the University of Arkansas, Fulbright College, the Department of Music and private donors.
