More Than 4,100 Students Expected to 'Walk' During U of A Commencement

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas is expected to set a new record for the number of students graduating during spring commencement ceremonies this year. So far 4,149 students have registered to attend one of the eight ceremonies: 898 graduate students, 3,126 undergraduates, and 125 law students.

In all 4,311 students have applied for spring graduation. For this academic year, including the fall 2014, spring 2015, and summer 2015 semesters, over 6,300 students have graduated or applied to graduate.

The College of Education and Health Professions ceremony will be held on Friday, May 8. Six commencement ceremonies will be held on Saturday, May 9. The School of Law ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 16.

Six of the commencement ceremonies will be streamed live online, a service offered primarily for family members and friends who cannot attend the campus ceremonies.

No tickets are required for any of the commencement ceremonies.

On May 8 and 9 the ceremonies will be held in Bud Walton Arena, Barnhill Arena, and the Arkansas Union.

Free parking is available in any unrestricted parking lot on campus. The campus parking map shows all available parking, as well as parking reserved for people with disabilities.

People with mobility impairments may be dropped off near the entrances to both Walton and Barnhill Arenas. Reserved seating is available for people with mobility impairments at all commencement locations.

Normal security precautions will be taken at each of the commencement locations. All guests attending a commencement ceremony will be required to pass through a security checkpoint. Cameras and personal items such as handbags will be inspected. Please allow extra time for this process. Please do not bring baggage, wrapped packages, backpacks, strollers or noise makers to the ceremony.
