The third-annual Southeastern Conference Symposium will be held Sept. 20-22 at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta. This year's event is titled Creativity, Innovation & Entrepreneurship: Driving a 21st Century Economy. Led by the University of Florida, this annual symposium offers opportunities for University of Arkansas students and faculty alike to learn from and share their expertise with SEC peers and colleagues.

Some of the planned features at the upcoming symposium include:

GRADUATE SCHOOL Q&A

SEC Symposium student attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about graduate school programs at SEC universities during an evening mixer on Sunday, Sept. 20. The students-only event will be in the Embassy Hall in the International Tower (Exhibit Level LL2) of the Hyatt Regency Atlanta at 6:30 p.m. And, before it begins, students may attend a panel discussion with graduate school administrators from several SEC universities.

CREATIVE WORKS EXHIBITION

Each SEC university will select two students from its institution, one to provide a visual work and one an applied work, to showcase their creativity during an exhibition in the Embassy Hall in the International Tower (Exhibit Level LL2) of the Hyatt Regency Atlanta on Monday, Sept. 21, during the SEC Presidents, Chancellors and Provosts Reception. Exhibits may include designs, drawings, sculptures, blueprints, etc.

MUSIC ENSEMBLE

Student musicians from all SEC universities will provide entertainment for the SEC Presidents, Chancellors and Provosts Reception on Monday, Sept. 20. The makeup of the ensemble will pay homage to the SEC marching band tradition as well as showcase the strength of the performance arts at SEC universities.

ENTREPRENEURIAL PITCH COMPETITION

Teams of students from every SEC university will take part in an entrepreneurial pitch competition on Monday, Sept. 21. Teams will present their innovative ideas to a panel of high profile, SEC alumni judges, and the winners will be announced before the SEC Symposium concludes.

Those wishing to register, or to view the schedule of speakers, may do so by going at www.SECSymposium.com. There are varying registration costs for students and faculty.

About the SEC Symposium: The primary goal of the SEC Symposium is to address a significant scholarly issue by utilizing the range of disciplinary strengths of all SEC universities in a manner that expands opportunities for collaboration among SEC faculty and administrators. Other objectives include annually drawing national attention and participation to the southeast region.

About SECU: The SECU is the academic initiative of the Southeastern Conference. Through SECU, the conference sponsors, supports and promotes collaborative higher education programs and activities involving administrators, faculty and students at its fourteen member universities.
