Eleven Teams Compete in International Supply Chain Case Competition

The team from Darmstadt University of Technology in Germany took first place in the 11th annual International Graduate Supply Chain Case Competition.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Supply Chain Management Research Center at the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas hosted its 11th annual International Graduate Supply Chain Case Competition on March 5-7 at the John Q. Hammons Center in Rogers. Teams from 11 universities in the United States and Europe competed in the event, with six sponsors from research center member companies also attending.

This year's case competition focused on the product pack size most effective for sales, marketing and production. Individual MBA teams analyzed the available data over a 24-hour period and presented their recommendations to a panel of industry judges on Saturday, March 7, at the Sam's Club corporate headquarters in Bentonville.

Darmstadt University of Technology (Darmstadt, Germany) took first place in the competition. Texas Christian University (Fort Worth, Texas) placed second and Rutgers University (New Brunswick, New Jersey) took third.

Representing the University of Arkansas in the competition were students Kenny Beirman, Nik Kennett, Shannon Saylor, Patrick Halligan and Julian Thompson. Walton College's Jason Arentz, adjunct professor of supply chain management, led the team.
